The exposition hall “Wildlife of Moscow” opened in the New Tretyakov Gallery. The photo exhibition is held as part of the Golden Turtle festival. Until November 20, in the exhibition halls of the Union of Artists of Russia, you can see more than 400 works — finalists of the largest Russian wildlife photography competition. In 2022, 4252 authors from different countries took part in it. Like last year, a separate hall is dedicated to the wild nature of the capital and talks about rare and endangered species of plants, birds and animals. This part presents the works of the finalists and winners in the nomination “Wildlife of Moscow”.
GOLDEN TURTLE is a project whose spirit and philosophy are aimed at changing the environmental consciousness and people’s behavior through love for nature and understanding the importance of its conservation. This is the largest educational, environmental and scientific project that gives schoolchildren, students, and Muscovites the opportunity to learn about the beauty of the wild world.
GOLDEN TURTLE is a project with a long history, it is included in the TOP-3 wildlife photography competitions in the world. Over the 16 years of its operation, the festival has brought together more than 29,000 photographers from 152 countries who submitted more than 168,000 works for the competition. The festival in a simple and accessible form shows the beauty of nature, promotes understanding of the inseparable connection between the human community and the world around. The general partner of the festival is the Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection of the city of Moscow.
This year the festival uses multimedia technologies, elements of virtual reality, interactive installations for the first time. In the immersive space, guests get acquainted with the mysterious underwater world. Lightboxes with photographs create the effect of presence at the moment of creating a frame. Panoramic multimedia projection room tells about the inseparable connection between man and nature in 360 format — full immersion. For visually impaired visitors, the White Book project presents 3D photographs with a special relief. The festival program includes more than 40 events: master classes, lectures, film screenings, quests.
