Various initiatives are needed to regulate producer and exporter liability. In the European Union, action is now being taken at legislative level to ban disposables and introduce producer responsibility for the obsolescence of their products. This means that they must be honest about how long the appliances will last and ensure they can be repaired so that a breakage of a small part does not result in the whole hoover having to be thrown away.

This experience will be useful for Russia, as it is often more expensive to repair appliances than to buy a new one, which ultimately harms the environment. It may make appliances more expensive, but people will know that the money invested will pay off and they won’t have to go shopping for a new hoover tomorrow.
