“The climate is not changing as rapidly as the global economic and political situation”

The main global climate challenges have remained the same since the start of this year. In fact, changes in climate and weather have not yet been as rapid as the political and economic crises in the world and in Russia.

Pollution, climate change, including changes in air temperature, emissions and waste remain prominent.

But it is precisely these same political and economic processes that have added further “inputs” to the picture. In Europe, for example, it is the energy crisis that is forcing countries’ leaders to take a fresh look at the climate agenda (for example, they are forced to loosen control over emissions and replace gas with other fuels). And in Russia it is, in a sense, disconnection from the international climate agenda, infrastructure problems, and a possible refocusing on the Asian market, which will also require some effort.

Business is also facing new challenges, for example in promoting low carbon projects. This is above all a business issue which, for objective reasons, may currently lack the resources to implement ideas, from infrastructure to the loss of partners with whom projects have been planned.
