ESG ratings have been gaining popularity in the business sector recently. But it all depends on which sector of the economy we are talking about. In the past, these ratings were needed for companies to enter international markets and for interaction with foreign companies, particularly banks. At present, this issue is, shall we say, not very relevant. So in the near future we are likely to see a decline in interest to ESG ratings from financial sector companies.
But some Russian companies, which, for example, have fixed sustainable development in their KPIs, will still use the ratings. These are mainly exporting companies from large businesses.
