Biodiversity conservation is an issue for every major city in the world. Moscow is no exception. This problem can and should be solved. In Moscow, there are quite a lot of green areas that need to be preserved. And this is not only a matter of biodiversity, but also of people’s health, including psychological health. If you have a view of a forest or a body of water from your window, your psyche will be in a more harmonious state than when contemplating an urban landscape.

The concept of ecosystem services can also be mentioned in this context. These are the benefits that the consumer receives through the use of ecosystems. For this, Moscow has to act very closely with the Moscow region by investing in maintaining forests, clean water bodies in the neighbouring regions.

When we talk about biodiversity and nature in cities, it is important to understand that the quality of life in an agglomeration is determined, among other things, by the condition of suburban areas, sometimes quite remote. And it is important to protect nature and provide ecosystem services in an integrated manner.
