“Green projects in Russia can not only receive grants, they can also earn money”

The mechanism of foreign funding for green initiatives in Russia has almost come to naught in recent years. However, every year the number of presidential and regional grants to launch eco-projects grows.

A year ago my colleagues and I created the Russian Union of Ecological Volunteer Organisations, which includes 15 organizations from all over Russia, and we have already received a grant from the government of the Leningrad region for the development of the ecological community. Ecovolunteers can get a mini-grant to launch their eco-projects from Rosmolodezh.

Another funding tool is donations. You can make a donation form on your organisation’s website to collect donations. The foundation “Need help.rf” also helps eco-organisations. The organisation can be verified on the foundation’s website and receive donations from individuals every month.

In addition, eco-organisations can earn money by providing services to businesses and state agencies. For example, they can provide eco-education and organise separate waste collection in the offices of companies and state enterprises, and corporate tree planting.
