“There are very few companies that don’t put the ESG agenda at the top of their agenda”

Sustainable development of a company is only possible with the observance of three principles: environmental safety, social responsibility and good corporate governance, which are at the core of the ESG strategy.

There are no companies with a transparent corporate structure that do not care about their employees and violate environmental regulations. And in general, there are very few companies nowadays that do not put the ESG agenda at the top of their agenda.

All large and medium-sized businesses are actively studying it and establishing competence centres to assess their own carbon footprint. All these measures are taken for pragmatic reasons: it is easier for a company with an ESG strategy to interact with consumers, win a tender and become the only supplier.

In addition, young talents are increasingly asking questions in job interviews: what is the company’s mission, what does it do for society and the environment, what value does it create. Any business with long-term development plans is obliged to answer these questions.

To achieve this, companies need to do a lot of work: improve their corporate governance and engagement with external communities, and reduce their negative impact on the environment. Businesses have recently focused on reducing their carbon footprint.

However, the ecological requirements of companies are not just limited to reducing CO2 emissions — they also include combating excessive waste production, careful use of water resources and taking care of biodiversity and soil conservation.

In recent years, considerably more companies have emerged that do not ignore these issues and publicly communicate to all stakeholders how they plan to address them.
