Enrollment for the festival Golden Turtle 2022 in the nomination “Wildlife of Moscow” is opened

In Moscow, within the framework of the annual international wildlife festival “Golden Turtle”, the acceptance of competitive works in the special nomination “Wildlife of Moscow” has started. This was reported on the official website of the mayor of Moscow and the government of the capital of Russia.

The jury will select the 10 best photographs, which will then be presented in the New Tretyakov Gallery and the exhibition hall of the Union of Artists of Russia. The exposition will be valid from October 15 to November 20.

The competition is organized jointly with the City Department of Nature Management and Environment Protection and “Mospriroda” State Environmental Budgetary Institution. Photo works of participants are accepted from 1 to 31 August.

“Wild animals live far from residential areas and highways of the capital — in specially protected areas. To take a rare shot with foxes, martens, roe deer or other wildlife, photographers have to work hard. For filming, they, for example, install camera traps. This is how it is possible to capture animals, including those listed in the Red Book of Moscow,” the capital’s government noted.

The Golden Turtle International Wildlife Festival is a large-scale environmental education project that promotes the idea of preserving the environment through art.

In addition to the photo exhibition, the program of the Golden Turtle festival includes screenings of films about nature, familiarization programs and excursions for children, meetings with representatives of reserves. There are special days, such as the day of caring for nature, the day of nature in Moscow, the day of children, and so on. In general, most of the program of the event is aimed at the children’s audience.

The Golden Turtle Festival is one of the largest events of its kind. Among other such events in Russia, the most famous festival is Primordial Russia. It has been held annually since 2014 — it is the largest exhibition of photographs of pristine nature in Europe, it also hosts master classes, popular science lectures and screenings of documentaries about nature, and a special children’s program. Within a month, the unique works of nature photographers are exhibited in Moscow, and then residents of many cities in Russia and other countries can see them.

Over the nine years of the Primordial Russia festival, its team, with the support of partners and the community of wildlife photographers, has created a unique all-Russian and international platform that brings together nature lovers, conservation photographers and photo artists, conservationists, travelers, educators, scientists, government officials and public organizations.

At present, we are accepting applications from photographers for participation in the photo exhibition “Pristine Russia”. Applications are accepted until October 15th.
